Hiking tips in St. Ulrich am Pillersee
Pillersee tour
easy (walk) - approx. 1hour
Starting point: village/Pillersee car park. Turn left, walk along the right bank of the lake, continue past the kiosk, cross the little footbridge to the other side past the Pillersee- restaurant, and continue back to St. Ulrich.
Adolari tour
easy (hike) - approx. 2 hours
Starting point: parish church. Head towards the Latschenbad, then turn off right on to the panorama trail to St. Adolari. The Stations of the Cross guide the walker to the well known pilgrimage church and "St. Adolari". To go back you have to cross the Pillersee road to Waidring, then follow the wide hiking and cycle trail which eventually joins up to the Pillersee section and go past and the kiosk on your way back to St. Ulrich.
Hamlets tour
easy (hike) - approx. 2 hours
Starting point: village/Pillersee car park. Walk over the footbridge across the little stream, keep going straight ahead, then take the path on the right behind Neuwieben to Weissleiten, in the Koglfasserweg area take the fork leading to the hamlet of Au and continue on from there to the Strasserwirt. Then start off again from Strass along the hiking and cycle trail which takes you back to the village centre of St. Ulrich.
Schiesslingalm
fairly difficult hike - approx. 1 hrs climb
Starting point: Weissleiten. Head towards the Griesltal, then climb a well signposted path up to the Schiesslingalm, 1,270 m above sea level just in front of the Steinberge.
Lindtalalm-Winterstelleralm
fairly difficult hike - approx. 1 or 2 hrs climb
Starting point: Schartental. Set off along the cycle path or take the steep hiking path from the Latschenbad; both routes will first take you to the Lindtalalm at 1,090 m above sea level. From there you can walk on and up a further hour to the Winterstelleralm at 1,420 m above sea level.
Kirchberg/Schafelberg
difficult hike - approx. 3 hrs climb
Starting point: the Latschenbad. The way takes you up the spectacular "Steinerne Stiege" through the so-called Kalktal to the Kirchberg summit at 1,680 m above sea level, and from there onwards to the Schafelberg (1,600 m). The shorter but extremely steep way down leads over the "Teufelspalven" straight back down to the Latschenbad.
Heimkehrerkreuz/Ulrichshorn
difficult hike (mountaineering experience!) - approx. 3 hrs climb
Starting point: village/Pillersee car park. Walk over the footbridge across the little stream, keep going straight ahead, the climb then begins up the winding path to the Bräuplatte at 1,430 m above sea level, from there the path rises steeply up through the dwarf pines to the rocks of the Steinberge around the Heimkehrerkreuz/Ulrichshorn, 2,030 m above sea level.
Teufelsklamm
fairly difficult hike (wet!) - approx. 1 hr gentle ascent
Starting point: St. Adolari. Heading past the inn and the church towards Waidring, the car park is on the right. From there the way is signposted to the Teufelsklamm.
