Winter hiking in Hochfilzen
Panoramic trail Hochfilzen – Fieberbrunn
walking time: 2,5 hours
This trail with its marvellous panoramic view leads from "Warming" along the circular route "Buchensteinwand" to "Pfaffenschwendt" and further to "Vornbichl" in Fieberbrunn (total 8 km). It starts at "Warming" ski lift station. Above the historical "Gisela" railway track the trail leads through "Feistenau" to "Pfaffenschwendt" (approx. 3 km). There you can make a stop at the restaurant "Kapell'n". Then you walk further on to the narrow road in direction of Fieberbrunn and pass by the chapel of "Pfaffenschwendt" and traditional farm houses. Passing through "Buchau", "Schönau", "Grünbichl" and "Vornbichl" you will reach "Rosenegg" (approx. 5 km). From there you can take the ski bus back to Hochfilzen.
Hochfilzen – Hoametzlhütte
walking time: 1,5 hours
This trail offers you a little bit of forest and a lot of sun, a beautiful view to the "Wilder Kaiser" mountains and the skiing area of Fieberbrunn. Starting from the centre of Hochfilzen you follow the "Herrngasse" to "Warming"; after the first farm "Hörlbauer" turn left, direction "Tennweg". After passing the "Untertenn" farm you can make a stop at "Obertenn's" handycraft shop. There you find everything from haybears to door garlands. Then follow the "Kammberg" trail, passing through forests and clearings, you reach "Hoametzl" hut. After a break on the marvellous sun terrace you can either take the same way or the toboggan-run back to the starting point.
Hochfilzen – Berglehen oder Gasthof Eiserne Hand
walking time: 1 hour
Walk to "Feistenau" and turn left at the bus-stop. Either you walk straight on to "Berglehen" or to the restaurang "Eiserne Hand". At "Berglehen" you can buy biological farmer cheese at "Untereggbauer" farm as well as schnaps and liquors at "Hinterreithbauer" farm. From the restaurant "Eiserne Hand" you can continue your walk to Fieberbrunn or to "Burgeralm" hut (closed in case of danger of avalanches!)
Hochfilzen – Oberböden
walking time: 1,5 hours
Walk along "Herrngasse" opposite to the church "Maria Schnee" in direction "Warming" and pass by some farms. Approx. 200m after the restaurant "Wiesenseetal" you turn left and walk uphill to "Oberböden" farm.
Hochfilzen – St.Ulrich
walking time: 2,5 hours
This is a diverse and easy, but a little longer walk. Follow the "Herrngasse" and walk along the street next to the cross-country track until you reach the restaurant "Wiesenseehof". Then you walk furhter to "Hotel Strasserwirt" at St. Ulrich. From there you can take the ski bus via Fieberbrunn back to Hochfilzen.
Hochfilzen - Grießen
walking time: 1 hour
Starting from the parking area at "REGIO-TECH" Hochfilzen you walk past the moor and lake "Grießensee" to "Grießen" hamlet (distriction of Leogang). After a stop at the restaurant "Tödlingwirt" you walk back leisurely to Hochfilzen.
